Legal counsel to the Northern Environmental Coalition (World Wildlife Fund (Canada), Canadian Arctic Resources Committee, Ecology North and Canadian Nature Federation) in the matter of the Federal Environmental Assessment and Review Office (FEARO) Environmental Panel Review of an application by Broken Hills Proprietary (BHP/Diamet) for approval to conduct diamond mining activities in the Lac de Gras region of the Northwest Territories. Two week hearing which considered a wide range of environmental and socio-economic issues in the West Kitikmeot Slave Region including land claims and treaty entitlement (Treaty 8 Dene, Treaty 11 Dogrib, Dene Nation and the Inuit of the Nunavut Settlement Area), environmental and related impacts, economic benefits and social concerns.
